Pilates / Core Stability

Pilates / Core Stability

Here at Sutton Sports Injury and Physio Clinic we regularly utilise the skills from Pilates in our treatment of everyday problems. Core stability is key to the functioning of most major muscles in the human body so it makes sense to have a ‘good core’. Whether you have a back, hip, knee, shoulder or any other problem there is likely to be a core stability element and a thorough assessment can help to identify these issues and deal with them.

At the clinic we offer 1-2-1 Pilates sessions, provided by one of our team of highly skilled physiotherapists, in our dedicated studio plus pre-booked small group classes (see below). We can take on complete beginners as well as improvers and more advanced individuals. We can also identify problems with core stability and provide strategies to improve these.

Nick Wirth has undertaken post-graduate education in APPI Clinical Pilates, whilst Steve Hankin and Sandeep Nageshwararao have both delivered core stability classes as part of their previous roles and have attended various in-service training lectures about Pilates and core stability throughout their training.

Core Stability Classes

At Sutton Sports Injury and Physio Clinic we currently offer Beginners and Improvers core stability classes.

These are designed for individuals who have had recent injuries or who have little or no experience in Pilates and core stability exercises.

The classes are delivered by Sandeep Nageshwararao, one of our highly skilled physiotherapists and run on Saturday mornings and Thursday evenings.

Places are limited to 4 per class and are pre-booked for a 5 or 6 week block to coincide with school terms.

To book a place on a class or enquire further about 1-2-1 Pilates please do not hesitate to contact the clinic on 020 8254 2150/020 8644 6566 or email

Please note core stability classes and 1-2-1 Pilates are not covered by Private Insurance as stand alone treatments. Pilates that is included as part of an overall treatment plan and delivered by a qualified physiotherapist may be eligible for insurance cover.
